Lufthansa Cargo expands range of digital services


Observing the necessities of boosting the speed and offering reliability to its partners, Lufthansa Cargo has recently started offering two new Application Programmes Interfaces (APIs) to their customers. “GetCapacity” and “GetRates” provide customers direct access to capacity and rate data. This enables the companies to use and access the data quickly and easily on their own systems without having to manually upload it. Furthermore the API’s offer Real-Time data exchange on capacity which will make information on flight utilization available beyond office hours. This service is aimed at speeding up the exchange information, simplifying it and minimizing errors.

API interfaces ‘GetCapacity’ and ‘GetRates’ provide access to capacity and rate data.

Boris Hueske, Head of Digital Transformation at Lufthansa Cargo said, “We are continually expanding the digital standardised interfaces for our customers in order to further simplify system-to-system communication”, adding more he said, “The increasing number of users proves how widespread market acceptance is. For Lufthansa Cargo, this is another step on the way to becoming a more digital enterprise.”

“GetCapacity” and “GetRates” are added to existing APIs “Tracking” and “GetRoutes”, but the data with higher sensitivity are transmitted by these newly integrated interfaces and hence made available to interested parties upon request. “Tracking” and “GetRoutes” can be accessed as usual on All the APIs can be used easily without requirement of any instruction.

Additionally, with the enlargement of web services, Lufthansa is expanding its existing product range on offer even more, which will improve its connectivity to its own customers and also define new digital standards for entire air freight industry. Future plan is to add intelligent web services for booking.
